Experience the Journey

The best design decisions often happen long before the final deliverable.
They begin by understanding the system behind the work.

Context

A global hospitality company was acquiring a hotel group in Mexico and needed to understand vacation club sales, a business model deeply rooted in Mexico's tourism industry but unfamiliar to many of its stakeholders.

Rather than presenting the sales process as a series of disconnected steps, I designed an interactive visual journey that allowed stakeholders to experience it from beginning to end. The objective was not only to explain what happened at each stage, but also how the entire journey unfolded.

To create an authentic experience, I began with a library of isometric assets and extensively adapted them to reflect the environments where the journey takes place. From the airport and hotel reception to breakfast, resort tours, and the final sales conversation, I customized each scene and created original visual elements inspired by the minimalist aesthetic of Tulum resorts, helping establish context without overwhelming the story.

Every stage of the journey was designed as an individual scene while remaining part of a single composition. Working within a widescreen format, I developed a layout that maximized space, preserved visual detail, and allowed the entire experience to exist on one slide. PowerPoint's Zoom feature became part of the storytelling, progressively revealing each stage while maintaining spatial context and helping viewers understand how every piece connected to the next.

Contributions

  • Translated a complex sales process into an interactive visual journey.

  • Developed the information architecture and storytelling framework.

  • Designed and customized isometric environments to accurately represent each stage of the experience.

  • Created original visual assets that reinforced the atmosphere and context.

  • Designed the single-slide layout and interactive Zoom experience to guide viewers through the journey.

Impact

The final experience helped stakeholders quickly understand a business model that was unfamiliar to many of them. By combining information design, visual storytelling, and interaction, the presentation transformed a complex sales process into an intuitive journey that was engaging, memorable, and easy to navigate.
